(1) CitruSlim® works by reducing cortisol – the stress hormone, decreasing desire to binge eat due to stress. Stress causes the appetite to decrease so that the body can respond appropriately to the stressful situation. If the stress continues, a hormone called cortisol is released. Cortisol increases appetite and can cause someone to overeat. High cortisol levels from stress can increase food cravings for sugary or fatty foods. Stress is also associated with increased release of ghrelin, the hunger hormone, which often contributes to cravings for unhealthy foods.
In a randomized, placebo-controlled study, Adapticort® Eurycoma longifolia root extract (an ingredient in CitruSlim®) helped to modulate cortisol release, significantly improve mood state, support broad-spectrum stress response, and support already-healthy cortisol levels.*
(2) CitruSlim® works by activating the AMPK metabolic enzyme to help fight unwanted belly fat. AMPK is known as the body’s “master regulator of energy metabolism,” and plays a central role in regulating healthy glucose, lipid metabolism and energy production. As we age, AMPK activity significantly slows. This is one reason why we experience changes in appetite, body weight, energy levels, etc. Declining AMPK levels can cause the accumulation of abdominal fat. Studies showed that increasing AMPK activity can encourage cells to stop storing fat and start burning it for energy. Studies show that bergamot flavanoids activate AMPK. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, Bergamonte® (the other key ingredient in CitruSlim®) significantly increased adiponectin by 18.65% and 21.76% after consuming 650mg and 1300mg, respectively, of the full-spectrum Bergamonte® extract for 12 weeks. As a result, body weight was reduced by 10.04% in the 650mg group and 14.91% in the 1300mg group*. BMI was also reduced by 10.12% and 15.85%, respectively*.
(3) CitruSlim® helps you resist the urge to snack by modulating key hormones involved in hunger signaling, ghrelin and leptin. (Think: “ghrelin” is “g” for “give me food,” while “leptin” is L” for “leave the food”). Ghrelin is a hormone produced in the gut, and its main function is to send a signal to your brain to increase appetite when your stomach is empty. It makes you consume more food, take in more calories and store fat. Leptin is a hormone that is produced by your body’s fat cells. It inhibits hunger and regulates energy balance, so your body does not trigger hunger responses when it doesn’t need energy. Leptin controls appetite by signaling your brain to stop eating. In a randomized, double-blind placebo-controlled study, Bergamonte® (a key ingredient in CitruSlim®) significantly reduced ghrelin by 6.89% and 14.90% and reduced leptin by 12.30% and 21.36% after consuming 650mg or 1300mg of Bergamonte® extract respectively, for 12 weeks.
